Thank you for spending your very valuable time with us this semester, participating in some thinking, reading, viewing, and responding about your own work with African American male students in the classroom.
I eagerly anticipate our time together and invite you to share something here already in answer to this question:
Why have you chosen to join this group and what do you hope to gain from our time together?
I look forward to reading what you have to say!

Hi Amy and everyone!
ReplyDeleteI chose to join this group because I teach many African American males and I am always looking for new ways to engage them. I have seen them benefit from my learning and I want to continue to expand my horizons so that not just my African American boys are benefiting but all of my students.
Hey everyone! I'm looking forward to the class!
ReplyDeleteAmy,
I'm logged on now, but on my dash board it shows me as a "follower." I can comment, but I don't know if I can make a new post. I'm still trying to figure it out! Great idea though!
I chose this group because of the huge need that exists among this demographic of students. Our time spent together will no doubt make us better teachers. Can't wait to meet everyone.
ReplyDeleteWell, I know this is extremely delayed; however, it is not denial. I am joining this class for the collaboration and knowledge. I am diligently searching for strategies that will further the information already given to help this particular demographic and how it can be used with others as well. This is always an interest of mine, but I also need recert time and I am forever a STUDENT... Looking forward to the learning...
ReplyDeleteI am looking forward to this class because I am always looking for ways to relate and communicate to my students how successful I want them to be. I know that the information will challenge what I already think I know, and it will cause me to question why I do the things I do in my classroom. I like that because it is real-life information I will find it useful in the classroom.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone! I chose to join this class because I teach many African American male students, and I want to reach them more effectively. Although I have no problems communicating and building relationships with them, I feel that I could be a better teacher if I delved into "scientific side" of teaching them.
ReplyDeleteI am taking this class to make me a better teacher. Relating to black males is difficult for me because I get so impatient with thier "mouth" and posturing. I have jsut read Chapter 3 and 4 and better understand the need for these actions. I want to help my black male students succeed and was looking for a way to do that. Someone has to break the cycle - why not the people they spend hours with?
